Yesterday, Rexanne Bruno and I toured Fleming Mtn. on a cloudy, cool and
then rainy day. We found very few early migrants but did hear a blue-headed
vireo and Louisiana water thrush in two places. Among other notables we saw
yellow-bellied sapsucker, both ruby crowned and golden crowned kinglets,
rufus-sided towhee, brown thrasher and only one sparrow, chipping. We saw
eastern
phoebe almost everwhere we stopped and they were all singing. I saw a wild
turkey walking on a hillside beside Rt 460 East as I was on my way home. It
was very quiet except for numerous small flocks of canada geese flying over
and vocalizing.
