Hello VA Birders,

In addition to the much-needed rain, this morning brought a BLUE-HEADED
VIREO to my backyard, first heard singing, then seen. He appeared on the
exact day in my yard as the first one last year! Other birds who have been
attending my feeders are the two winter-resident RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES,
the PINE WARBLER who has adopted my feeders the last 2 weeks, and a flock of
about 10 PURPLE FINCHES for the last 4 days or so, half males and half
"brown" (the first ones I've had this year). Right now I can hear a HAIRY
WOODPECKER making one of his visits to the suet feeder. Yesterday a BROWN
THRASHER sang incessantly, and hopefully he'll choose my yard for his home.
