Birders,
This afternoon, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird was regularly using a
feeder on the deck. Our first of the season. The past two years, the
species was first seen on April 15th.
Also, a foraging flock of migrants came through the yard: Pine Warbler
(3), Prairie Warbler (1), Yellow-rumped Warbler (2), Louisiana
Waterthrush (2) Red-eyed Vireo (2), Blue-headed Vireo (1), Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher (3). In the past few days, we have heard Ovenbird and a
Wood Thrush.
Some fall birds that are still being seen are: Purple Finch (7),
Red-breasted Nuthatch (2), White-throated Sparrow (6), N. Junco (4),
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (6).
Happy birding,
George & Rosemarie Harris
Orange County
