Heard the first WHIP-POOR-WILL at the house we recently moved to in Burnt
Chimney in Franklin County, just south of Roanoke. Last weekend we had our
first BLUE-HEADED VIREO there. Still enjoying PURPLE FINCH at the feeders.
And happy to have a hammering log for a resident PILEATED WOODPECKER just
behind the house. In fact, we've seen all the possible woodpeckers except
red-headed, and we're keeping our fingers crossed for those, too.
