All: I went birding on Tuesday and picked up the following birds of
interest in the area.
Double-crested Cormorant on the Maury in RC and along the James
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - singing in Lexington
Horned Grebe at the AT Bridge and the James River
Louisiana Waterthrush - 2 individuals along the AT (south bound) and the
James R.
Bald Eagle - west of the BRP bridge over the James R., circling with
vultures
Cliff Swallow - 2-3 individuals around the BRP bridge over the James.
If history repeats itself, these will leave before the colony members
arrive
Yellow-throated Warbler - single individual at the Visitor Center along
the BRP at the James
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - same as above
Black-throated Green Warbler - about MP 58, single male singing in trees
Blue-headed Vireo - heard singing in several places but not seen
Pine Warblers - singing in the woods all over the county
