Hello all,
Today was the first day of banding at the Spring Migration Station at
Occoquan. List of birds banded and recaptured follows. We saw but, did not
catch, several YELLOW PALM WARBLERS
and a BLUE-GRAY GNATCHATCHER.
Banded (by band size)
3 FIELD SPARROWS
1 AMERICAN GOLDFINCH
4 EASTERN PHOEBE
1 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER
3 CAROLINA WREN
15 SONG SPARROW
7 WHITE-THROATED SPARROW
1 EASTERN TOWHEE
2 DOWNY WOODPECKERS
3 NORTHERN CARDINALS
1 MOCKINGBIRD
1 RED-WING BLACKBIRD
2 BLUE JAY
Recaptured 4 birds banded at Occoquan in previous years
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, April 2001
NORTHERN CARDINAL, April 2002
CAROLINA CHICKADEE, May 2002
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, April 2004
We are always especially glad to see these old friends. The
foreign (not banded by us) recapture Northern Waterthrush we
caught May 2004 turns out to have been banded in February 2004
near Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Hooray.
