I've been out in past few days looking for ducks in Rockbridge Co. I've
turned up the following:
Sunday, 27 Mar at McCormick's Farm near Raphine (northern Rockbridge Co)
- Hooded Mergansers=20
1 Blue-winged Teal=20
about 20 Shovelers
At Willow Lake - also near Raphine -=20
Ring-neck Ducks
Pied-billed Grebe
Am. Wigeon
lots of Tree Swallows
Gadwalls
Thursday 31 Mar at McCormick's Farm -=20
4 Blue-winged Teal=20
a lone Osprey
At Willow Lake -=20
A lone Oldsquaw (I prefer the old name to the newer Long-tailed Duck) in
mixed but mainly basic plumage=20
an Eared Grebe in basic plumage=20
a single Pied-billed Grebe
2 Wigeons
I have reports of Pintails and some Scaup sited in the area.
