VA Birders,
Around 4:00 PM today a member of the Buchanan County Bird Club, who lives
near Grundy, called to say he had a male Ruby-throated Hummer at his feeder.
This is the first one seen in the area this season.

Another member of the club observed two Vesper Sparrows today at Poplar Gap
Park here in the county.

Yesterday, when I did my weekly check of one of our bluebird trails, one of
the nine nests had two bluebird eggs. This means that one of the eggs was
probably laid day before yesterday during our local snow squalls and
freezing temperatures. I hope the female was able to keep it warm enough.

Enjoy the birds,
Roger Mayhorn
Grundy, VA
