[va-bird] White-tailed Kite in Suffolk

Les Willis asks that I post this to the group, as he is not on the Va-Birds
listserv:

Late Saturday afternoon (4/3, 4:00PM) I observed a White-tailed Kite fly
over Bennett's Pasture Rd. near Nansemond River HS in Suffolk.

This is near the intersection of Bennett's Pasture and Nansemond Pkwy.  This
is an area that is south of Rt. 17 and is very wet with mixed hardwoods and
a lot of Cane (Arundinaria gigantea - a small species of bamboo).

The bird flew over the road 20 feet in front of my car, about 15 feet off
the ground.  I pulled over and watched it fly low over a cut-over and then
over the trees and out of sight.  I tried to zoom around and intercept it on
another road but did not succeed.  I didn't think it was chaseable - it
seemed to be moving on.  I meant to check back yesterday but I didn't get a
chance. There have been other reports along the east coast and it could
feasibly be
hanging around.  I'm going to check back today at lunch.  I'll alert
everyone if I see it again.
