For an old mountain and valley birder that gets a
thrill every spring when I'm lucky enough to find a
Great Egret, today was a red letter day. Isabelle
Woods commented yesterday that she thought she
saw several egrets at Greenfield Pond , and skeptically,
I decided to check it out today. At 4:30 PM there
were at least 6 egrets on the pond edges, an amazing
sight for this area. Don't think I have ever seen more
than one in a single day before around here. Last
weekend there were 2, maybe 3, Blue-winged teal
there, today there were at least 15. Stuff is moving.
Wonder how many egrets are in the area?
