[va-bird] digital photo advice

All: I know this is off topic but...I've seen so many wonderful digital
photos from different posters that I'm sure there is an incredible wealth of
information on digital photography out there.

What I am looking for is information on digital camcorders. I've done a bit
of research and know I should get one that uses the Mini DV recording tapes
and I am sure we want the additional media card for photos as well, but
beyond that....there is so much noise I can't figure out which way to go.
We are really just vacation photographers, not professionals. But...when we
do take photos we like to make them good - so I would guess we are kind of
half way between snap shot and professional.

If you have looked into digital camcorders and would be willing to share
your hard earned wisdom, please reply to me off list. I would be ever so
grateful - this is one case (among many) where the advertising so just
toooooo overwhelming for a novice to figure out where to go.

Thank you all so much in advance.

Enjoy the birds.
Cheers, Janet Martin
