[va-bird] White Oaks Park update

This morning I witnessed the first big slug of migrants at White Oaks Park in
Fairfax County, including 5 new species for the year. The catch included 3
species of warbler (yellow-rump -- first morning with double digits; singing
LA H20thrush; and 2 palms (yellow)); one each of both kinglets; a thrasher; 2
creepers; 1 towhee and 1 phoebes (beyond the birds already on territory); and
2 hermit thrushes.
I've been doing my almost daily walks since 3/10. Birds I associate with
March have been absent, including the kinglets until today, sapsucker and
creeper until 3/31.
Phoebe arrival was about average (3/17), as was yellow-rump (3/17); hermit
slightly early (3/29). The waterthrush is interesting; I've only had one
here once before, for the whole second week of April in 2000. In contrast, I
average about 5 northern waterthrush sightings a year (although some of those
are undoubtedly the same bird on multiple days).
Here's to the roller-coaster of the next six weeks without enough sleep!
Good birding.
