[va-bird] Occoquan Refuge today

I had a very nice day at Occoquan (Prince William County) today in the company
of several nice people. As we entered the refuge, we were greeted to the songs
of a Brown Thrasher and several Field Sparrows. By day's end, I must have
tallied 25 Field Sparrows.
Raptors consisted of 4 pair of Ospreys plus a single bird that appeared to be
searching for a mate, a pair of Am. Kestrels, at least 3 Bald Eagles, and a
lone Harrier hunting over the fields.
Laura Catterton spotted the first Bonaparte's Gulls of the day. We had at
least a dozen of these little guys headed northbound. We tallied one Caspian
and one Forster's Tern. We also had great views of a Common Snipe.
We tallied 3 Eastern Phoebes and toward the end of the morning saw one Rusty
Blackbird in a mixed flock of Red-wings and grackles. Savannah Sparrows are
still present-we saw 4, but Tree Sparrows have all left.
