[va-bird] Bonaparte's Gulls and Caspian Terns

VA Birders,
Betty Kilgore and I went to Roaches Run Sanctuary in Arlington this
morning. In the big pond there we saw 3 Bonaparte's Gulls and 7 Caspian
Terns, most of them sitting on an exposed mudflat/spit when the tide was
still fairly low. I think that is the most Caspian Terns I have seen there,
and it is also the first Bonaparte's Gulls I have found there. In fact, it
is the first time I've recorded Bonaparte's Gulls in Arlington County. We
also had about 45 Double-crested Cormorants there--and you could really see
the double crests on some of these birds! We also saw 2 Ospreys at National
Airport, just across the George Washington Parkway from Roaches Run.
