[va-bird] perfect spring morning

Despite being more of a night owl than an early bird, 6am was too bright and
warm to
pass up this morning!

So, I took a walk in the woods behind my house (in Loftridge Park just south of
the
beltway in Alexandria). Despite the ongoing work of the bulldozers mowing down
acres
and acres of Clermont Park (adjacent to the park), I still got to see some
great
birds. The Pileated have seemed to move on - haven't seen any in weeks,
espeically
since the bulldozing began. Unfortunately, the same for the deer.

But downies, flickers, and red-bellied flourished - and I even caught sight of
1 or
2 yellow bellied sapsuckers (the 2nd time I've ever seen any!). Add on a
towhee,
eastern phoebe, a bright yellow goldfinch, and 1 brown creeper, and it made for
a
perfect spring morning. :)
