VA-Birders,
I watched an OSPREY with a fish in its talons being harassed by a
murder of crows off the Belle Haven picnic area this morning. A half
hour later from the boardwalk, I saw another Osprey in flight with
what I swear looked like the same rather small fish. So, I had two
Ospreys or two sightings of the same bird who wasn't too hungry.
Other interesting birds were:
DC Cormorant 5
Wood Duck 2
Mallard
Canvasback 2
Lesser Scaup
Bufflehead 2
Common Merganser 8
Kim Peacock, who is always a pleasure to bump into on a birding
trail, reported to me that he had seen a Pied-billed Grebe and Tree
Swallows, as well as a Red-shouldered Hawk who then made an encore
flight over the parkway while we stood talking in the parking lot.
