[va-bird] Red Crossbills in Highland County

Yesterday morning at about 9:00 I had a chance to stop on US 250 on Shenandoah
Mountain in Highland County to see if I too could see the Red Crossbills that
so many birders have been reporting. I did.
The location is the "horseshoe curve" about one-half mile west of the
Augusta-Highland county line at the top of the mountain. There is space to pull
off on the north side of the road above the curve. After about 10 minutes I
heard the "kip kip" call and then a bit later two males landed in a tree beside
the road off the point of the curve. Then they were joined by a female. I heard
others calling in the distance.
