[va-bird] Homeland security

For several years now holders of the permission letter have been required to
stop at the CBBT to register by providing a valid driver's license, vehicle
registration and the permission letter before entering the toll plaza. For
a brief period of time all occupants had to provide a valid form of
identification. There may be a lot of letters issued on an annual basis, but
I'm curious to know the average daily visits to the islands by birders.

I'm also curious to know if any restrictions will be placed on the countless
boaters and fishermen that surround the islands, crisscrossing back and
forth through the channels and setting anchor up to the rocks?

What steps, if any any, are being taken to prevent a possible suicide bomber
from entering the tunnels? Let's face it folks, it's a new era and sadly,
this is a possibility.

Sorry, but I just don't see an increased security risk with "registered"
birders stopping on the islands. Clearly common sense is no longer the
order.
