Saw my season's first Brown-headed Cowbird in town this morning, a male
singing in the neighborhood as I walked the dog. They are very scarce
around here in the winter, and so it was probably a new arrival. Very late
February or early March is when I expect to start seeing them around here.
Also saw a flock of a dozen or so Red-winged Blackbirds yesterday morning,
with the same being true of them.
