Well, after looking in the books, the very stocky bird with a distinctive long
bill and very short wings found this afternoon on 17th Street NW appears to be
close to David Sibley's rendition of a common snipe. I have never seen any
snipe in the US, and he was really so gorgeous.
Has anyone found snipe in DC? Would he have come from Fort McNair and Hains
Point?
