The Harris's Sparrow was still at Julie Metz on Monday, March 1. I saw the
bird at about 10 AM on the path near the monument in the company of about 15
Tree Sparrows and Song and White-throated Sparrows feeding on the seed I had
scattered earlier.
Neabsco Creek produced a single Lesser Black-backed Gull and a nice flock of
Green-winged Teal. Leesylvania was very quiet. Eight Canvasbacks and 10
Tundra Swan were the highlights there.
I arrived in the Harrison Rd. area near Marshall about 2:30 PM where I joined
two other birders for about an hour. We attempted to locate the reported
Ross' Goose and Eurasian Wigeon spending time at both empoundments without
success. Morning may be a better time to look for them.
