The hawkwatch, on the James River, near Williamsburg, sponsored by Coastal VA
Wildlife Observatory, finally had a decent day yesterday, March 13th, thanks
to Bill Williams and Tom Armour and some balmy weather. There were 88 birds,
mostly Turkey Vultures, an excellent total for the site.
The season is a bit below average, at 229 birds, due to a lot of poor flight
weather since the middle of February.
Today, a few birds managed to struggle across on cold, stiff northeast winds.
