[va-bird] Anyone seen any Red-necked Grebes lately?

Today, accompanied by my father, I hit the
Shenandoah river between Rt 7 and Rt 50 in Clarke
County. The water level was high and the current
strong, with much of the area flooded up to the
roadside. We had 5 Red-necked Grebes total, all
hugging the banks in the calmer, flooded portions.
On Rt 606, south of 7 on the east bank, we had 3
scattered intermittently along the 3-4 mile stretch
that runs along the river. No pairs.
On Rt 621, south of 7 on the west bank (closer to
50) we had 2 in the roughly 5 mile stretch around
Lockes Landing before having to turn around due to the
road being flooded over. Again, no pairs.
    Also present:
        Wood Duck 10
        Mallard 13
        C.Mergs 40+
