[va-bird] Manassas Battlefield

VA Birders,

As I was driving south on Rt. 29 this morning and just entering the
battlefield, a Common Raven came flying north up Rt. 29 followed closely
by three crows. I managed to catch it just as it flew over Bull Run
putting it in both Prince William and Fairfax Counties. Later in the
day after I finished my waterfowl survey, it was so nice out that I did
the walk around the Stone Bridge loop. There is a lot of damage along
the trail from overflow and some awesome ice sheets at least 6 inches
thick that were washed up onto the trail. The birding was pretty quiet
but I found a flock of about 40 American Pipits in the grassy field just
to the northwest of the Van Pelt house. There is a large area of the
field where the snow has melted and the pipits were foraging in the
grass.

Waiting for spring.
