[va-bird] killdeers on the lake

At 10.00 this morning a pair of killdeers flew in to the 8 acre lake in my
front yard. They are thin but singing. I looked on down the lake and saw 2 pr
of hooded mergansers on the water. But something wasn't quite right. I set
the spotting scope up in the sun room and one of them was a red necked grebe.
Also one was an immature pied-billed grebe. That marks them here in central
Va as well. Has anybody checked Lake Anna? The pair that were actually hooded
mergansers were full plumage male and female and seem bonded. I probably
wouldn't have taken that closer look if I hadn't started watching the
communication from this website. My humble thanks to everyone and keep up the
good work!
