[va-bird] Red-necked Grebes Still At UOSA + Burke Lake

This afternoon about 3:15, joined by Laura Catterton, we observed 5-7
red-necked grebes at Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority. They were on the
other side of the pond from the administration building, near the fence, but
with scope we were able to get good views for a considerable time. They
were joined by a large number of common mergansers, and a few red-breasted.
Closer to us was a large number of hooded mergansers, all glowing in the
bright sunshine.

About 4:30 we observed 5 red-necked grebes on Burke Lake near the shore
opposite the floating pier and concession stand. A good deal of the lake
was frozen over, and the approach to the pier is extremely slippery.
