Gadwall, green-wing teal, pintail, black duck, hooded merg, wood duck, and, of
course, mallards were present at Huntley Meadows this morning. Two small
flocks of field sparrows worked on the margins of the pond. Surprising find,
first spotted by others, was a turtle in the ouflow of the beaver dam - very
much alive and active. I always thought they buried themselves deep at this
time of year.

The trails and boardwalk are snow-covered.
