[va-bird] Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve, 3/9/02

Twenty people showed up for the regular (2nd Sat. of every month) bird walk at 
Banshee Reeks this morning.  We split into two groups.

The highlights included hearing a Ring-necked Pheasant, seeing seven woodpecker 
species and eight sparrow species, 11 Eastern Meadowlarks and 20 Rusty 
Blackbirds.  Those of us who went to the Dulles Wetlands after the Banshee 
Reeks walk could not believe the number of Common Snipe - there were at least 
68 and prob. more.  Also, several of us had our first Tree Swallows of the 
season at the Dulles Wetlands.

After Banshee we split into two groups, one of which visited the Dulles 
Greenway Wetlands Mitigation Project and the other Beaverdam Reservoir.  The 
birds seen at the Dulles Greenway Wetlands Mitigation Project are noted  in the 
2nd column.
