VA Birders
I too decided to jump on the Fort Ward Park bandwagon today between 9 and 11.
Thanks to Edna Aaron and Paula Sullivan for starting it rolling. Actually I
had been there once before - last summer I think and was impressed at the
habitat and curious that I had never heard about anyone birding there. Birds
of note:
YB Sapsucker
EPhoebe (My first of the year)
RB Nuthatch (My first inside the beltway)
Fox Sparrows (4 feeding together with Juncos and Song Sparrows along the west
boundary south of the ampitheatre)
GCKinglets
B Creeper
100 or so Canada Geese (High in the sky)
KC-135 refueling an F-16 (Higher in the sky)
I didn't see Pine Warbler, but thought I was hearing them occasionally. Most
of the birds I saw were along a line between the dog exercise area and the
ampitheatre.
