[va-bird] Nashville Warbler in VA Beach

A few weeks ago my husband and I caught a brief glimpse of 'different' warbler
at our bird bath. The bird left before we could grab the binoculars and get a
good look. However, we had the impression that it was a Nashville Warbler.
Today (Sun 2/4/07) a Nashville Warbler visited our bird bath! Both Kurt and I
had excellent views (bright sun, bird bath is 15-20 feet from our window and I
was able to get a good look through binoculars). The bird had a bluish-grey
head, strong white eyeline, a small rufous cap (very obvious while bathing),
greenish back and bright yellow from the throat to the rump. Alas, I was not
able to get a picture. Hopefully, he will visit again and we can take a photo.
The Yellow-throated Warbler (previously reported) continues to visit our suet
feeders regularly.
And, we've been seeing a small group (5 - 7) of Common Mergansers on Lake Smith.
Best Regards,
Debbie Schroeder
