Howard Brokaw is a friend and birding colleague of mine. I came to know him
when he was Treasurer of the then International Council for Bird
Preservation, the predecessor of BirdLife International. When I became
Treasurer of
BirdLife, Howard continued to serve on the Investment Committee that I had
formed.
I recall that he was also heavily involved in RARE, and many other
worthwhile institutions.
We birded together all over the world - what a dynamo!
Howard is still quite active. We don't see him as much nowadays principally
because his wife is no longer mobile and Howard prefers to stay with her
rather than travel.
