Just before the cold front blew strongly through today, February 16, the
temperature was 70 degrees and there was a decent flight across the James
River.
The 30 birds included 3 Red-taileds and an immature Bald Eagle. The good
weather this month has allowed 8 days so far. This will end up being the most
February coverage of the past 8 years, if the good weather holds. Last Sunday
there were 17 birds, including 4 immature Bald Eagles. The total is 80 birds
and the per hour rate so far is about 7, which is good for so early in the
season.
Also last Sunday, we saw the first Tree Swallow pass the station.

The College Creek Hawkwatch is located on the James River, near Williamsburg
and is sponsored by Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory.
P.S. I'm looking for a pair of used Leica 8X42 binoculars. If anyone has
information, please contact me directly.
