All,
Having recieved mail regarding the Semipalmated Sandpiper and reviewing
my notes and looking at differnet field guides I do not believe the
Sandpiper I saw was a Semipalmated Sandpiper and a Semipalmated Sandpiper is
not a likely in this region. Items of note regarding this bird, the legs
were dark, there was a distinct eyeline and the breast was fairly white with
some light coloring. At the time I was viewing the bird the setting sun was
pretty much directly behind the bird. Also I did not notice if the bill was
straight or if it was curved, I think that these are critical factors.
I guess I will have to bird some more.
Regards,
Jack Carroll
