Hello VA-Birders,
This morning, Kurt Gaskill, Rich Rieger, Larry Meade, Marc Ribaudo and I
visited Occoquan Bay NWR and the Prince William landfill in search of gulls. A
walk through Occoquan was highlighted by a King Rail heard near Locust Road, a
Blue-winged and 5 Green-winged Teal, Canvasbacks, two Common Goldeneyes, two
Wood Ducks, and several other waterfowl.
Later in the morning, we went to the PW landfill where Kurt was first to spot a
juvenile Iceland Gull, among the many Ring-billeds, Herrings, Great
Black-backeds, and a single Lesser Black-backed Gull.
