Hello all
This past Thursday the 3rd of Feb. Pat & I did a little birding in the Swoope
area of Augusta County . Not much on the frozen ponds but in one field on Rt.
703 , I scanned the small flock of Canada's looking for any thing that would
stand out . In this flock were two blue morphed Snow Geese . Not a bad find for
a winter afternoon . After finding these to delights & traveling on Rt. 876
where it intersects with Livick Rd. ( Rt. 707 dirt rd. ) we saw a lone bird in
a small tree . It turned out to be a Loggerhead Shrike & about 3 / 4ths of a
mile up the road on Rt . 705 we came acros ta second Loggerhead Shrike . A two
Shrike afternoon .
Well today I checked out Bells Lane & all the Canada Geese were on the one pond
behind the barn . I found a couple of the Cackling Geese mixed in . Also there
were 3 redhead , & 6 Coots . After leaving Bells Lane I went to my property to
do a little road work & while I was there I saw two Red - breasted Nuthatch .
Not a bad couple of hours of birding on these days .
