[va-bird] Raven Recap

A bunch of people contacted me off list with some ideas as to why Ravens were
seen in eastern northern VA. Here's a brief synopsis:
1) Ravens have been seen closer to this location in the past few years
including a nest site somewhere near Manassas. So maybe they're expanding
their
range. (if not their breeding range, then possibly their foraging range).

2) Ravens have been seen at the Occoquan NWR before.

3) They could be young birds who've been kicked out of their parent's
territory and are looking for territory of their own.

4) "Nature abhors a vacuum" The Department of Agriculture has, for three
years in a row, poisoned Corvids in Fairfax County. There is some speculation
that these birds (the Ravens) are migrating into the County from outside the
area to take advantage of the food supply and lack of competition.

Thanks to everyone who answered me on this.

Bart
