Montressor Road was the place to be this afternoon. A large group of birders
was treated to a dazzling exposition of wintering
hawks. The sight was nothing but awesome! For those who haven't been there yet
- just go!
Here is the list covering 4:30 til dusk:
Harrier - 3 (at least)
Red-tailed - 8
ROUGH-LEGGED - 11 (3 dark + 8 light)
Kestrel - 2
Short-eared Owl - 1 (heard calling, not seen - by Bob Abrams)
Great Horned Owl - 1 (calling from the west ridge after dark)
Best viewing was from the top of the hill after the road turns north.
