[va-bird] No Ripley hummingbird at noon

Hello birders,

I have to make this brief; it's one of those days. To my knowledge, the
Ripley hummingbird has not been seen since dusk on Friday... a somewhat
ominous sign, since winter hummingbirds often depart in January. I watched
from 11:45 to 12:50 today, but I did not see her. It would be unfortunate,
since Mary did not get a chance to catch and identify or band this one, but
last week's weather was not hospitable. I did see two scrapping
mockingbirds, one now sporting 3 leg bands. I thought there were only 2
before... maybe anklet bracelets are the new hip accessory for mockingbird
this year!

                                                      Laura Farron
