Are a pair of yellow-rupmped warblers who have mastered the hanging suet
feeder in my yard. THey seem to hang with the goldfinches and juncos.
My crepe myrtle is a veritable Christmas tree of birds today after the snow.
Also fascinating was watching a female downy woodpecker FREEZE for 10 minutes
like a bud on a branch after a sharpie flew by.
Recommended winter reading for you all:
Winter World by Bernd Heinrich who also wrote "The Mind of the Raven" . THis
is about the ingenuity of animal survival in the winter. Lots of good bird
stuff in there.
ENjoy this amazing day!
