Fellow birders,
When the snow began to fall here in Buchanan County around 1:00 PM today the
birds really began to pour in to the feeders. After making a couple of
counts I found that I had 16 species with a total of 202 birds. There were
102 Am. Goldfinches, 38 Mourning Doves, 17 Northern Cardinals, 10 House
Finches, 7 Dark-eyed Juncos, 5 WT Sparrows, 5 European Starlings, 3 Purple
Finches, 3 Song Sparrows, 2 Red-bellied Woodpeckers, 2 Downy Woodpeckers, 2
Carolina Chickadees, 2 Tufted Titmice, 2 WB Nuthatches, 1 Carolina Wren, and
1 House Sparrow.
When something would startle them and they would take flight, it was
something to see with all of them in the air at the same time.

Enjoy the birds,

Roger Mayhorn
