I visited Bellehaven Sat. about 12:00 noon, and ran into the gentlemen (I'm
sorry...didn't get names) that saw the "small" goose with a raft of Canadas
out on the mouth of Hunting Creek, just in front of the large condos. I got a
brief but relatively good look. In comparison with the Canadas, the goose was
about 1/3 or less smaller, had a higher forehead and smaller head, and a
small bill. Most other markings seemed the same as Canadas, but it did have a
rather darker upper breast than the Canadas. From studying Sibley's, the
"Cackling" appeared to be a good match.
Sorry I couldn't get a longer, better look...I hope this helps!
