[va-bird] Dead Black Vulture: Defunct Shopping Center, Groveton Rd. Manassas

Today while walking the loop around Lewis House and streambeds at Groveton
Road, I found a dead black vulture. It was not clear what caused his demise.
His very large body was intact, with no wounds noted on the back. He has
not been moved or touched. (There had been a flurry of black vulture
activity around the old civil war hospital between approximately 11:00-12:00,
though at the time I thought nothing of it.)
The dead vulture can be located along the newly paved portion of National
Park Service land, {designated by parking spaces on the west (right hand)
side of Groveton Road, before the bridge over Rte. 66.} He is on the right
side of the paved path, off in the grass approx. 120 yards along the driveway
if you are walking in a west-northwesterly direction, and located just beyond
the two "Keep Right" signs at some new traffic rotaries.
Other birds noted:
Am. kestrel, 1
Red tailed hawk, 3
House wren, 1
Northern Mockingbird, 1
American crow, 4
Enjoy this beautiful weekend!
