[va-bird] Cackling Goose - Pope's Creek

I birded Pope's Creek today and had prety much the came species noted by
Andrew Dubillon January 7. The raft of Scoters and Scaup were far out
at the beach, and I didn't make the effort to try to count the different
species.
I did run into a Cackling Goose, Richardson's subspecies (Hutchinsii) I
believe, in a flock near the visitor's center. This was my first
Cackling Goose, and it was indeed noticeably smaller and with a much
smaller bill. The coloring was very similar to the typical Canada Goose
seen around here.
I also stopped briefly at Vir Mar Beach, which had some Longptailed
Ducks, Bufflehead, and a few Black Scoters. It was pretty quiet, and
what was there was pretty far out.
