I received an email and photos from Philip Reed who saw about 8-10 brown
pelicans on the old Tappahannock Pier on December 28.

First noticed 4-5 woodcocks peenting and flight songs in the grasslands of
the Wilna tract, Rappahannock River Valley NWR on or about December 30 and
am continuing to hear them at dusk.
A flock of about 2 dozen eastern meadowlarks is also consistently observed
on a daily basis since Thanksgiving.
