I would not oppose allowing hunting on Sunday, if they would give up  
Saturday.
 
The relevant points, I think are:
 
Even if the number of birders shot by hunters is low, as it likely is, that  
is not just because hunters are careful, but because birders, and other  
recreationists, tend to avoid areas where and when hunting is taking  place.  
 
So expanding hunting to both weekend days will severely curtail use of such  
natural areas by birders and other non-hunters.
 
As to the claim that hunters are the greatest support for conservation,  that 
is greatly exaggerated.  General taxpayers are the largest source of  
conservation dollars from the federal budget.  And in any event, having a  say 
is not 
the same as totally dominating the state's natural resources.
