VA Birders,
Joanna Taylor, Anne Strahan, Jane Grawe, and I went to Fort C. F. Smith
Park, Arlington Co., Thursday morning, Jan. 5, and saw over 30 species of birds
there. Highlights were a PEREGRINE FALCON, which flew over shortly after we
arrived, an immature BALD EAGLE, a BROWN CREEPER, a HERMIT THRUSH, and CEDAR
WAXWINGS. We also saw both BLACK & TURKEY VULTURES, and I saw a YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER after the others left.
Good birding in 2006,
Val Kitchens
Arlington, VA
