Hello birders,
Snow, ice and 11=BA temperature this morning made for a nice day to stay=20=
inside and bird from indoors. About 150-175 birds have been coming to=20=
the feeders, deck and ground to feed. Among them was a Chipping=20
Sparrow which is rare in the Piedmont in winter. Some of the other=20
birds include Cardinals (21), Purple Finches (24), Winter Wren (1),=20
White-breasted Nuthatches (2), Song Sparrow (2), White-throated=20
Sparrows, Juncos, Chickadees, Titmice and the ever present=20
Sharp-shinned Hawk.
So how does one keep the birds from flying into the glass of windows=20
and doors? Leave your Christmas decorations up year-round........
Happy birding,
George Harris
Orange County=20
