va-birders,
This afternoon I decided to check out Burke Lake. Nothing spectacular. Just a
nice little variety of birds:
3 American Coots
3 Pied-billed Grebes
50+ Common Mergansers
8 Ruddy Ducks
2 Buffleheads
2 Bald Eagles (one perched; one soaring)
Lots of Canada Geese and Mallards, and about 30 unidentifiable (for me) Gulls.
Some were Ring-billed Gulls, and at least two could have been adult winter
Herring Gulls.
