[va-bird] Virginia birder in Texas

Excuse the out-of-range posting, but...
Next week I'm going to be on travel to Abilene, TX (Dyess AFB), and if I
can get a break I'd like to do some birding. I'm a novice from the east
coast and would like some advice to about some good spots nearby.
Any advice would be helpful. Please respond off the list. Thanks!
