Hello-
I went to Palmer Point at Kerr Reservoir today and did
manage to scope the Pacific Loon that has been
reported previously; however, it was a pretty lousy
look! I arrived at noon then returned again at 2:00;
the bird remained WAY out on the water and heat waves
were rising from the surface making things very
difficult. At 2:00 the bird was a little closer to
Palmer Point, and was in a little better lighting than
it had been at noon, and was nearer to Common Loons
for comparisons---good enough for identification, but
I would recommend that if you're going to chase the
bird, arrive as early in the morning as you can to
avoid those heat waves!
